New Delhi: A man armed with "several knives" killed his mother and sister in a town near Paris on Thursday, officials said. Another woman, a passerby, was seriously injured in the attack.
According to police, the man had been on a terror watch list since 2016. He was later shot dead after confronting police in Trappes.
The attacker, 36, had "serious psychiatric problems", France's interior minister Gerard Collomb said, adding, the attack was not being treated as terrorism.
The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attack, however, it did not provide any evidence. The attacker reportedly shouted "Allahu Akbar" during the stabbing rampage.
