Pahalgam: The Indian Army organised a cultural and sports festival in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam for locals.
The festival, titled ‘Aamad-e-Khaza’ or ‘Welcome to autumn season’ was organised at Yanner Park in Pahalgam. The festival was attended by hundreds of young students, artists, sports enthusiasts, singers and ordinary folks.
The festival was inaugurated by General Officer Commanding (GOC) Chinar corps Lt. Gen A K Bhatt. The major attraction of the festival was a cultural program presented by boys and girls from different schools which mesmerised the audience besides that different type of games were also played among the youngsters in the festival.
The army also held medical camp in which local patients of the areas were examined and provided medicine on the spot. The youths appreciated this step taken by the Army.
Army is organising these types of festivals to encourage the youths to come forward in different fields. By organising these types of festival Army also wants to bridge the gap between local population and armed forces particularly in south Kashmir which is witnessing lot of violence.
