NASA's before-after images reveal scale of devastation in flood-hit Kerala

The floods in Kerala have left more than 400 dead and a millions homeless. People have taken shelter in relief camps.

New Delhi: NASA has shared before and after images revealing the scale of devastation caused by the floods in Kerala. The NASA images show how the state looked before and after the natural calamity stuck.

The before image was taken by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on the Landsat 8 satellite before the flood on February 6, 2018. The after image was taken by the Multispectral Instrument on the European Space Agency's Sentinel-2 satellite after the flood on August 22, 2018. 

The images are false-colour, making flood water appear dark blue, while the vegetation is bright green.
