Chennai: The DMK convened an emergency executive meeting in Chennai today, a week after its president M Karunanidhi's death.
Speaking at the meeting, its working president MK Stalin remembered his father and said, "Party has lost our leader but I have lost the leader as well as my father."
He said, "When Kalaignar was in his last stage I held CM's hands and pleaded to fulfill his (Karunanidhi) last wish to be buried in Marina Beach but govt didn't agree."
"I give the entire credit of the victory to lawyers. If this wouldn't have happened then surely I would have been the person to be buried along with our leader."
On Monday, MK Alagiri, who was expelled from DMK in 2014, claimed that he had the support of father's loyalists.
He said, "My father's true relatives are all are on my side. All the supporters in Tamil Nadu are on my side & are encouraging me only. Only time will give the answers that is all I am willing to say now."
Alagiri has been on the warpath with his brother MK Stalin and his late father over the succession issue since 2014.
