New Delhi: Congress President Rahul Gandhi got a perfect chance to milk the rupee's fall of 70.09 a US dollar as he attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi by sharing the latter's old video.
The video, which is from the past when PM Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat, shows him demanding the centre to explain rupee's fall.
Sharing the video, Rahul Gandhi tweeted: "The Indian rupee just gave the Supreme Leader, a vote of No confidence, crashing to a historic low. Listen to the Supreme Leader's master class on economics in this video, where he explains why the Rupee is tanking."
PM Modi said in the video that India will disappear from the world map if rupee keeps falling and dollar continues to grow strong.
"Businessmen won't be able to survive, even the government will find it difficult to handle the pressure," he said. He then asked the former prime minister to shed light on "why only Indian rupee was falling against the dollar?" and in the same breath blamed "Dilli ki bhrasht rajneeti (corruption)" for the rupee's loss.
"This fall is not only due to economic factors, it is a result of the corrupt practices of this government," he said.
