A must visit hill station in the lap of desert - Mount Abu

New Delhi: Rajasthan is a beautiful place with historical brilliance and delicious cuisine. Among the charming desert state, there is an only hill station which soothes you. Mount Abu, located near the Sirohi District, lies in the Aravalli Mountain Range. While you visit the place, you will feel a cool vibe straight away which makes you forget the fact that you are in a hot place. 

The amazing roads towards Mount Abu offers an amazing view of the  hills. There are waterfalls, rivers, lakes, which makes it a scenic hill town. The place is referred to as 'an oasis in the desert’…it’s ancient name is Arbundaanchal and it is said to be original abode of the famous Gurjars. This little hill station is popular among the local tourists as well as foreigners because of its spiritual charm.

Mount Abu has that amazing aura that will captivate you immediately. Here are some of the places that are a must visit while you tour this destination. 

Dilwara Jain Temples

Dilwara Jain Temples’ architectural beauty is one thing that is truly enchanting. Built between the 11th and the 13th century, the temple is known for its marvellous marble stone carvings. The beautiful lush green hills surrounding the temple gives a very pleasant feeling. The temple complex have 5 temples namely Vimal Vasahi, Luna Vasahi, Pithalhar, Parshvanath and Mahavir Swami. 

Guru Shikhar

Guru Shikhar is the highest point of the Aravalli Range. You can reach the mountain top after trekking and get an aerial view of the Mount Abu region. Guru Shikhar is famous for its temple of Guru Dattatreya, an incarnation of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva in one. Other important temples situated at this mountain peak are Chamundi Temple, Shiva Temple and Mira Temple.

Achalgarh

Built by the Paramara Dynasty rulers, Achalgarh Fort is situated at a distance of 11 km from Mount Abu. The fort was later reconstructed by Maharana Kumbha in 1452 CE. The complex of fort houses famous Shiv temple, Achaleshwar Mahadev Temple and Mandakini Lake. 

Nakki Lake

Nakki lake is named so because it has been dug out from nails. One of the most popular attractions of Mount Abu, this lake has a very calm and romantic atmosphere around it. Many mythological stories exist leading to the creation of this lake. One of them is that it was dug out by the Gods by simply using their nails to gain shelter from the Demon Banshkhali.
