72nd Independence Day: Some unforgettable things to do on this precious day

New Delhi: Our country is celebrating today the 72nd Independence Day and after so many years of hard work and fighting; our country became independent on August 15, 1947. Our leaders and all the freedom fighters even lost their precious lives for us to breathe freely without any power leading us but the truth is that for most of us, this day is another national holiday when we can wake up late and end up partying with friends. It was a time when we were in schools, August 15 was an extra special day. We would prepare patriotic songs and speeches and get ready for the big day on Independence Day eve.

However, we cannot deny the fact that a feeling of patriotism still triggers in every mind while saluting the freshly hoisted flag and singing the national anthem. Today is the day when people are seen flaunting tricolor proudly. Some prepare tricolor food and sweets whereas some include it in their dresses. Rather than lying in beds till late we can utilize this day in different ways so that when the day ends we can feel proud. Here are the few ways by which we can celebrate the day as follows:

  • Organize a flag hoisting event in office, like it happened in schools. It may sound like a task but once people come together and celebrate it turns out differently.
  • The oldest tradition which followed on this day was kite flying. We can celebrate the day with our families by flying kites. Let the spirit of freedom fly high with these colorful tri-colored kites in the sky.
  • Take charge of cleaning your neighborhood and form a team. What’s better than cleaning your country on Independence Day and as it is said charity begins at home so start with your neighborhood.  Install proper dustbins and take responsibility for keeping your nearby areas clean.
  • Plant a tree or bunch of bushes in your neighborhood and encourage others to do the same. It’s Independence Day and gifting a plant to your country isn’t a big task. This will make our country environment prosperous.
  • Adopt an Indie or Indian Pariah dog that spend their wholes lives on the street. Buying a Labrador or Huskies because they look good isn’t bad but the dogs living on our streets are equally loyal and beautiful and more than that they also deserve a home.

Apart from the above-mentioned options you can also visit orphanages and old age homes and spend some time with the people there. I bet you will end the day more satisfied and happy then ever.
