New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy today while backing the union cabinet’s decision to approve 10 percent reservation "economically weaker" sections from the general category, said, “Nobody can object” to it as the reservation is approved on the basis of “economic consideration”.
Swamy, however, made it clear that he would have protested the decision, had it been made solely for upper castes without considering their financial background. “Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, Muslims, Christians. They are not entitled to reservation because they were ‘ruling class’ (sic). Reservation was meant for those who are oppressed by the ruling class,” the BJP leader said.
