Mumbai: Former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray arrived at the residence of cricket coach Ramakant Achrekar who passed away on Wednesday, to attend the last rites.
Achrekar passed away at the age of 87 due to old-age related ailments on January 02.
He breathed his last at his residence in Mumbai. Achrekar was the childhood coach of cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar.
He had also coached former Indian cricketers Vinod Kambli, Pravin Amre, Sameer Dighe and Balwinder Singh Sandhu. Cricket ‘Guru’ Ramakant Achrekar was conferred with the Dronacharya Award in 1990 and the Padma Shri in 2010 for his services to the sport of cricket.
