New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday spelt out his government’s vision 2024 at NITI Aayog’s fifth governing council meet. Underscoring the role of state governments in the development of economy, Modi said that the focus should be on export promotion.
This happens to be the first meeting of the planning body after the BJP-led NDA formed a second term as government at the centre.
At the meeting PM Modi said, “Union Government's commitment to double incomes of farmers by 2022 requires focus on fisheries, animal husbandry, horticulture, fruits and vegetables. Benefits of PM-KISAN-Kisan Samman Nidhi and other farmer centric schemes should reach beneficiaries within time.
“We are now moving towards a governance system characterised by Performance, Transparency & Delivery. On-ground implementation of schemes is vital. I urge members of Governing Council to help create a govt setup which works & has the people's trust”, added PM Modi.
The meeting was attended by chief ministers, governors, senior officials among others. Three Chief Ministers Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal, K C Rao of Telangana and Amarinder Singh of Punjab were missing from the important meeting.
