Shimla (Himachal Pradesh): Himachal Pradesh police successfully conducted a one month trial of the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS). The police started receiving calls from November 01 and in a month’s period received over 28,000 calls. With the data available on the calls received on the emergency number ‘112’, state police redressed over 700 cases and action was also taken. Now this emergency service is available with the state police 24 hours on all days.
The services were launched from Mandi by Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh. The spokesperson of the Shimla police said that this number 112 would function as uniform emergency service.
He said, this is getting a good response from the people of the state and police is also propagating this system through different means of media on social media platform.
