New Delhi: The 'Atal Asthi Kalash Yatra' will be taken out by the Yogi Adityanath government across Uttar Pradesh on Monday to immerse the ashes of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey said the three-day-long yatra will begin from the Uttar Pradesh BJP office in Lucknow on Monday and will end with the final immersion of Vajpayee's ashes in the Gomri river in Lucknow on Thursday.
BJP will invite religious heads of all faiths and leaders of all political parties to the event, he said.
The 20 ‘asthi kalashes’ (pots containing the ashes) will be kept for darshan at the UP BJP office since the previous evening. A state minister and senior office-bearers of the ruling party will take out the Kalash Yatra.
“We have decided to immerse the ashes in 20 different rivers – from Ganga to Saryu and Yamuna to Hindon,” Pandey said.
Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP chief Amit Shah, Union home minister Rajnath Singh and Uttarakhand chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat will be present at the immersion event in Haridwar on Sunday.
