Chandigarh: A group of Ramleela artists held a candle light protest for the victims of Amritsar train accident. Through their protest, they paid tribute to the victims. The group has mourned this day. One of the protestors said, 

“We are paying an emotional tribute to those who died in Amritsar train mishap. The Punjab government should give resignation without delay on moral grounds. The state government is fully answerable to this incident.” 

The accident took place in Choura Bazar near Jhoda Phatak area of Amritsar after a train ran over the crowd, standing along train tracks, to watch an effigy of Ravan being burnt. 

60 people died in the tragedy and 57 sustained injuries.
