Hyderabad: In a bizarre way of protest against the alleged trend of 'casting couch' in the Telugu film industry, actor Sri Reddy on Saturday stripped herself in the front of the Movie Artistes Association (MAA)’s office at Film Nagar in Hyderabad.
This was her response to the "Me Too" campaign against sexual harassment of women. She was among the first in the Telugu film industry who went vocal against sexual harassment of aspiring female artistes in the industry.
She reached the MAA office in the upscale Jubilee Hills and suddenly started removing her clothes and then squatted there half-nude.
Alleging that the directors and producers import heroines from Mumbai and Chennai, she said local actresses are being denied roles despite being talented.
“The reason is simple. Heroines from other states would go to any extent to satisfy the big people in Tollywood, whereas the local artistes are not so bold,” she alleged.
“I will make it a big issue at the national and international level, if my demands are not met,” she said.
