New Delhi: Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju, a biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt's life, has been making a lot of buzz ever since it was announced. The Rajkumar Hirani-directed film presents Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt and showcases the various facets of Khalnayak star's life.

The uncanny similarity of Ranbir Kapoor to Sanjay Dutt is grabbing all the eyeballs. It was recently revealed that Aamir Khan was supposed to play Ranbir's father in Sanju. However, Aamir refused and the role later went to Paresh Rawal.

Speaking to Outlook in a recent interview, Hirani revealed the real reason why Aamir turned down the offer.

"Aamir is a friend. Any script I write, I bounce it to him. When I narrated 'Sanju' to him, he loved it and said, ‘Main bhi kuch karta hoon (I should also do something in it).’ Then I said, do this (Sunil Dutt’s role). But he was already doing the role of an elderly man in 'Dangal' around the same time," said Hirani.

Sanju also stars Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Dia Mirza. The film is slated for a release on June 29, 2018.
