Protesting nuns allege being barred from religious duties in Kerala

Sister Lucy, has been allegedly barred from performing official and religious duties for taking part in nun's protest in Kochi.

Kochi (Kerala): Two days after Bishop Franco Mulakkal was arrested, nuns across Kerala alleged that they are being barred from performing their religious duties. Sister Lucy, who was among those nuns who were protesting against the Bishop and demanded his arrest, demanded that it be made clear why she was expelled though she was very active till date. 

Meanwhile, another nun from Kochi, Sister Tina said that all major superiors of the congregation are in support of the bishops and the priests and not supporting their sisters. The accused, Franco Mulakkal, was arrested on September 21 after being interrogated for three days. 

Mulakkal was sent to police custody till September 24. His bail application has been dismissed. 

Franco Mulakkal is the first Indian Catholic priest to be arrested in a rape case.
