Jalandhar (Punjab): Bishop Franco Mulakkal, who is accused of allegedly raping a nun, has entered its fifth day in Kochi on Wednesday. He said, that there is a conspiracy behind the protests by nun. He also accused some “anti-church elements” of using the nuns who are protesting against him. On the issue, Mulakkal said,
“What I feel is that some anti-church elements are using these nuns. The antis in the church are pushing these nuns forward to raise their own issues. There is a conspiracy behind this. Few people are taking advantage of this.”
On the ongoing investigations, the Bishop said, “I will fully cooperate in all the legal measures. I have no problem in cooperating.” In the ongoing case, the nun has appealed to the Vatican seeking justice.
The nuns are demanding action against the Bishop by holding a ‘Save Our Sisters’ protest. The protests are being staged at the High Court Junction bus station, the protest has been called by the Joint Christian Council.
The protesting nuns have claimed that they are not getting help from the police, church authorities and the government. The victim has appealed to the Vatican seeking justice.
Protestors allege that there is an understanding between the accused and church authorities, along with the Kerala government that is why justice is being evaded.
