Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu): Tamil Nadu Fisheries department on Sunday warned fishermen to stay away from the sea owing to stormy weather predictions. Fishermen have been asked not to venture into the south-east of the Bay of Bengal today and tomorrow for fishing activities. These warnings are in view of the oncoming cyclone Gaja which is said to hit Tamil Nadu soon.
Heavy rainfall is predicted in the state from today onwards. The cyclone Gaja originated in the Bay of Bengal. The cyclone’s current speed is recorded at 81 mph.
Heeding to the alerts, boats were docked at the Rameswaram port from early Sunday morning.
