Raebareli (Uttar Pradesh): Seven people have been announced dead and 21 injured after nine coaches of New Farakka Express derailed 50m from Harchandpur railway station on Wednesday. Satish Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Northern Railways said, “7 dead, 21 injured after engine and 9 coaches derailed. Injured taken to District Hospital in Raebareli.
All passengers were evacuated. Special train is being arranged to take them. It may take 24-36 hours for completion of clearance operations.” National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams from Lucknow and Varanasi have reached the spot to provide immediate assistance. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognisance of the train accident.
He has further directed the District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police, health authorities and NDRF to provide all possible relief and rescue.
