New Delhi: The Indian rupee on Thursday traded at a lifetime low of 70.82 against the US dollar as it fell further by 23 paise, news agency Press Trust of India reported.
The fall of Indian currency continued on strong month-end demand for the US currency amid sustained foreign fund outflows. The local currency opened higher at 70.57 a dollar from its previous close of 70.82, down by 23 paise at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, PTI said.
On Wednesday, the rupee fell by 49 paise against the dollar to close at 70.59, marking the steepest fall in the rupee against the dollar in about two weeks.
Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex dropped 32.55 points to trade at 38,690.38. The Nifty50 fell 11.30 points to trade at 11,680.
